to implant understands itself as a gesture to open hidden spaces and to allow just such artistic practices new possibilities of engagement. A gesture that invites without asserting, that opens without defining, that gives without demanding, that thinks without conquering the sovereignty of knowledge. The gesture of to implant takes into account and sometimes establishes different conditions of production, the verb connects to the process that is given space here.
The production festival spreads out over the city of Frankfurt and its region, going to spaces and places that are not ostensibly intended for a “performance” and entering into a dialogue with the places and their users.
There have been two editions of this festival so far: IMPLANTIEREN AUF NAXOS and IMPLANTIEREN 2016. A third edition of the festival is being planned for September 2018
