Implanting 2018

It’s September and the city’s concrete is no longer glowing. In some places, it is cracking and fine cracks are becoming visible.

From September 1 to 30, the site-specific performance festival Implant 2018 occupies the city.

ID_Frankfurt shows in the third edition of the festival ten world premieres of dance and performance artists* of the independent scene of Frankfurt, who explore, play and reinterpret the urban space. Walks, concerts, interventions, performances, late-night shows and public dance workshops will take place between Frankfurt, Offenbach and Hanau on the streets and squares, in the suburban trains, dunes, museums and cinemas

The collective dasda.hinter sets up the festival center at a different location each weekend, inviting audiences and residents* to drinks and debates

The DJ duo from the Wonderful Laundromat transplants queer beats to Rebstockpark for the opening (Sept. 1), and five weeks later spreads out picnic blankets and boomboxes in Holzhausenpark to close out the festival (Sept. 30)

City researchers Katharina Böttger and Lene Benz discuss questions of urban planning (Sept. 7), heteronormative knowledge transfer (Sept. 14) and the possibilities of urban protest culture (Sept. 22)

For two weeks, the artist collective Mobile Albania is implanting an alternative bus line in the Rhine-Main area, challenging passersby to get lost – spatially and mentally.

im-plan-tie-ren means to plant or insert something. What do we have to put in? And what to put out? Sit down and stay for a while. Tilt your heads and see the skyscrapers across. Implant yourselves!
